From the Acting Principal’s Desk
Dear Students, Staff, and Stakeholders.
As we embark on another academic year, I am delighted to share with you the exciting developments at Masvingo Teachers College. We have set our sights on expanding our package in STEM/STEP disciplines, to include our commitment to equip students with the prerequisite skills complaint with the 21st century.
Our enrollment target for 2024 is set at 250 students, with a clear vision of increasing this number by 10% annually until 2028. This deliberate effort aligns with our mission to provide quality education to a growing number of aspiring educators.
In response to the National Development Strategy 1’s call for increased uptake and application of STEM, we are introducing new learning areas starting this year. These include Food Technology and Design, Textile Technology and Design, and Physical Education – Sports and Mass Displays. These additions will provide our students with hands-on experience and practical skills essential to sustain them in today’s ever-evolving world.
Looking forward, we plan to further expand our academic fields to include Building Technology and Design as well as Music Technology and Design. These initiatives reflect our commitment to innovation and excellence in education.
I am confident that these developments will not only enhance the learning experience for our students but also contribute to the escalation of STEM education in our community and beyond.

About US
Background and History
Masvingo Teachers’ College is a government teacher education institution in the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation, Science and Technology Development (MHTEISTD), with a dual mandate to produce primary and secondary school Science teachers. It is located five kilometers south of Masvingo City. The college was established in January 1981 operating from Morgenster Teachers’ College with an intake of 200 students. In July 1981 the college moved to Andrew Louw (next to the present site: the current site used by Great Zimbabwe University) to allow room for freer operations.
